Commitee Meeting Minutes

Cecilian Society Committee Meeting, 19th October 2000, QM

Present:

Susan, Lorna, Tony, Laura, Sam, Karen, Ian, Ewan, Mark, Gregor, Sophie, Nicola, Anne

Meeting Opened at 6.07pm

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

Corrected by Ewan: the person who e-mailed the udcf account last week did not actually offer to MD Anything Goes, per se. The words 'offering to MD Anything Goes' now read 'enquiring about how to become MD' and '..that we already have one thankyouverymuch' now read '..and told him how.'
Proposed - Anne
Seconded - Laura

Correspondence

  • Tim Shand was pleased to have received feedback on the Freshers' Fayre. There will be a Clubs and Societies fayre, but the SRC have not yet decided upon a date.
  • Some people e-mailed the udcf account wanting to join: Ewan told them to come tonight.
  • Harry doesn't have a newsletter. We will distribute them to the remaining members.
  • We have been provisionally accepted for affiliation to the QM, but they need a membership list before they can finalise anything.
  • The D'Oyly Carte will be performing HMS Pinafore in the Theatre Royal from 31st October to 4th November and have written offering us a group discount.
  • We still owe Jocelyn £40 for Oklahoma! tickets.
  • Shark@Destiny sent us free passes for last night, but we got them too late. We have told them that we'd like to go again in the future.

Christmas Events

Gregor will MD the Childline Concert. There is a possibility that we may be involved with the Music Club concert on Monday 11th December. Rehearsals will begin on Sundays as soon after the auditions as possible i.e. Sunday 5th November.

Anything Goes

We will stick to Thursday only rehearsals just now. The auditions have been brought forward to 29th October. We will need to have tickets printed by Christmas. We also need artwork soon. Mark requested that the artwork be more connected to the production design than in previous years. David Doig has expressed an interest in doing the programme. We still need to decide how many nights to do, but the main factor is how much time the tech crew need at the start of the week, and so we will wait until that has been decided. There may be slight alterations to the script. Mark needs an assistant director. It was felt that there was too much to be discussed before the rehearsal, and that we need to start next week's meeting at 5.30pm.

Publicity

Karen Davidson has been appointed to the vacancy on the committee in accordance with article 4(vi) of the constitution. She will also take over Johnny's position as publicity coordinator.

AOCB

  • The Bugsy Malone flats will be moved this Saturday
  • There is another gig in the QM on November 2nd, so we will try to book the Williams Room rather than be locked in the Food Factory all night.
  • In view of the show auditions, the Hallowe'en Party will now be held on Friday 27th October.
  • The pub crawl was a success.
  • Sam suggested a curry night at the Ashoka in Berkeley Street.
  • At this point the treasure finished totalling the Bugsy Malone expenditure. We took £432 in ticket sales, but made an overall loss of £201.12

Meeting Closed at 6.57pm
