Correspondence

  • Tim Shand has suggested we take something to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
  • JP sent us a Christmas Card
  • The QM sent us a letter about the clubs and societies meeting. They are having another one at 5pm on Friday January 26th.
  • One of the honorary members (Danny Cumming) sent us a cheque with his ticket order. We will send the cheque back with the tickets. We have received two other orders at the office.
  • We have received a large Clubs and Societies mailshot from the SRC:
    • Our grant this year is £209.63, but all clubs can apply for a one-off Special Submission.
    • There is to be another Clubs and Societies Fair on 7th Feb, probably in Qudos.
    • Would we be interestred in taking part in Clubs and Socs management group? We will say yes.
    • Apparently we should always invite the SVP to our AGM.
    • We can (and will) apply for a society notice board and a pigeon hole in the John Mac.
    • We will write a new spiel for the Clubs and Socs Guide.
    • We will apply for a societies e-mail address (cecilian@society.gla.ac.uk) We will have it forwarded to Gregor, Nicky and Ewan at the udcf account.
    • The SRC are to offer financial and effective meeting chairing training next term.
    • We will also write a spiel for the Clubs and Socs Newsletter and try to get a booking form printed in it.
    • There will be a general meeting for Clubs and Socs in the Williams Room on March 7th.
    • We will take part in the university’s 550th anniversary torchlight procession next Friday.
  • The band scores arrived today, but are missing a bass part. We will get Nicky to chase it up.
  • Tech. people are going to look round the Crawfurd
  • Lots of people have e-mailed to say they want to join the society - none of them male.
  • We have had an e-mail from Monica.
  • Someone else has written a musical they want us to do.
  • Mark’s colleague sent an e-mail which said 'Look forward to the show.'

Social

  • Burns Night: We will go to someone’s flat (possibly Ewan’s) for Haggis then on to the Renfrew Ferry (then possibly a club if there’s no disco.) We will get a show of hands tonight, but won’t pre-book. We will do this on Friday 26th.
  • Some of us are going to the Riverside Club tomorrow. Meet at the Crystal Palace@8pm or Riverside@9pm.
  • Show Week:We may have a flat for the after-show party. Sam suggested it might be more efficient (and less messy) if we make the curry night more finger food (pakora, poppadums etc.) than dishes which require messy sauces and cutlery. Might Johnny be able to get us some? Laura wants to go to Sing-a-long-a-Grease at the Grosvenor the day after the after-show party. No one else is planning to be conscious that day.

Anything Goes

  • There is now a chorus rehearsal schedule.
  • There is also an attendance sheet.
  • Ewan pointed out that Committe room 2 is available during committee meetings for anyone who wants to catch up on any dances they have missed.
  • We will make programme adverts the same price as before (£35, £60, £90, £150): If we are to have the Dinner Dance at the Hilton again, we should try approaching them - Friday 27th April would be a good date. This led to a general call for more society events after show week and stressed the importance of a good post-mortem the week immediately following the show.
  • We will do the large postering afternoon on Sunday 21st (January, obviously)
  • Tickets: buy 10, get 11th free as before. Also we will try and enlist the help of SRC Campaigns to find a charity.

AOCB

  • The total profit on the Christmas concert was £8.92
  • We will get a padlock with numerical code for the QM cupboard.

Meeting Closed at 7pm
