Collaborative research

Contract research
We have the experience, facilities and expertise to carry out a wide range of research projects. We will ensure that projects are well managed and deliver results on time and on budget.
We are experienced in tailoring our service to meet the specific needs of individual organisations. Our wide range of experience includes working with international blue chip companies from many disciplines including aerospace, IT, engineering, environmental, and medical, as well as 17 of the world's top 20 pharmaceutical companies.

CASE studentships
CASE Studentships (Co-operative Awards in Science and Engineering) can provide an economic way to solve a company's research, design, or manufacturing problems. The scheme allows industry to forge closer links with universities and to draw upon their expertise and facilities. CASE support research students working on projects which are jointly devised and supervised by academic departments and co-operating bodies; these projects are of between one and three years in duration.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
KTPs enable businesses to work together with the University on a specific project, bringing knowledge and expertise into your organisation to help solve important technical or business problems. The University employs a KTP Associate, who is a recently qualified graduate or technician, to work within your business to manage the project, apply their own knowledge, and ensure that University expertise is available to your business.

Student placements
Student placements can be organised through our Club 21 Business Partnership Programme or through our Aiming University Learning @ Work project. Both of these initiatives are based within our Careers Service.
Club 21
By joining Club 21 our unique Business Partnership Programme you will gain access to a business development network and students available for work placements. Based within our Careers Service, Club 21 is unique to the University of Glasgow and offers long-term benefits to employers and students.

Aiming University Learning @ Work
This exciting project aims to create a strategic shift within higher education institutions, through work related learning to enhance long term student employability.
The AUL@W Project will explore and develop new models for embedding work related learning within the curriculum for non-vocational subjects. It is a three year project funded by a £1.2m grant from the Scottish Funding Council. The project partners are the University of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian University and University of St Andrews, with active support from a diverse range of employers.
Project work is being undertaken in six different non-vocational subjects – Biosciences, Business & Management, History and Mathematics at the University of Glasgow; Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University; and Physics & Astronomy at the University of St Andrews.
