Image of a lightbulb with the word idea illuminatedCreating companies is one of the main ways in which technology from the University can directly impact on the local economy. The University has a respectable track record in commercialising research and over the last five years we have spun-out 15 companies.

In 2006 the University entered into partnership with with the intellectual property commercialisation company, IP Group plc. IP Group plc, who already have similar partnerships with nine other UK universities including Oxford, King's College London, Southampton and Bristol - are leaders in the field of research commercialisation with an outstanding track record, a strong network of investors and a proven ability to raise capital for University spin-out companies. Click here for more information about the IP Group plc.

As well as creating spin-out companies from academic research we have a strong reputation for helping our students create innovative, successful businesses.
