Lani Kaneta (JYA 2001)

I am currently working with others in the New York City Alumni Group, which also comprises alums living in Connecticut and New Jersey.

I enjoyed attending the 2004 Harvard Club and 2005 Yale Club dinners and the rooftop party at the home of Chris Pratt. The 2006 Tartan Day parade was rained out, but we can look forward to next year's festivities.

My involvement with the NYC Group stems from my enthusiasm for all things Scottish, having spent a wonderful semester in Glasgow in 2001. Upon my return, I was very homesick for the culture, a sentiment so often felt by American JYA students. Luckily for me, the NYC Group was reorganizing around the same time as my arrival in the city, and I have met some wonderful people who share my enthusiasm to keep the Glaswegian spirit alive this side of the Atlantic. Fast forward to 2006, and the NYC Group's momentum has taken off. 

I look forward to seeing everyone at future events.
