Glasgow Careers Alumni Network
The Glasgow Careers Alumni Network brings together the expertise and knowledge of our global alumni community in support of the employabilty of our current students.
Our graduates can inspire and offer guidance to students as they prepare for the challenges of the job market. By giving your time and expertise, you can make a significant difference to the career prospects of current Glasgow students and new graduates.
This is a brand new initiative that has been developed in partnership with the Careers Service and we hope that it will be enjoyable and rewarding for our alumni.
There are a number of ways in which you can help make a difference. Click through the tabs below to find out more.
Provide an alumni profile
Help inspire the next generation of graduates. All of our alumni – young and old, near and far – can add their voice and experience to make a significant difference to the career prospects of current Glasgow students through providing an Alumni Profile.
You can share the benefits of your degree, the path you took after graduation, your professional journey to date or tell us what you loved about Glasgow. Your profile will form part of an online, searchable database of alumni profiles, which will be exclusive to current students. With your permission, the profile could even feature in our publications, webpages and marketing materials.

Join 'Ask Our Alumni'
As competition intensifies in the job market, it is crucial that our students are prepared for life after graduation. Our alumni network represents a vast resource of knowledge and experience. You can help our students benefit from that knowledge by contributing to the University's 'Ask our Alumni' advisory service.
How Does 'Ask our Alumni' work?
'Ask our Alumni' uses Alumni Profiles to give students an insight into what it's like to work - and to look for work - beyond graduation. Whether they want to follow an established career path or would like to try something different, by submitting an alumni profile you provide the kind of quality guidance these students need.
Just submitting a profile will help our students to get a better understanding of their career options, but you can give more direct help by opting to permit students to send you questions about your experience via your LinkedIn account. When you submit your alumni profile, you'll be given the chance to opt-in to the 'Ask our Alumni' service by providing your LinkedIn URL. Our students can then contact you directly with questions about your profile and your business experience.
Students can access the profiles and search through the directory for alumni by industry, by College as well as by where in the world you are based.

Participate in an event

Events are a great way for students to develop key skills that will prepare them for the job market and our graduates can make a contribution by participating in a variety of ways. Events provide first hand experience of networking, presenting to future employers and gives our students a forum to ask questions that will help them shape their career path.
From attending networking receptions, giving guest lectures, hosting careers workshops and seminars, alumni can play a key part in helping our students make the most of their prospects.
A range of activities are being developed both at home and overseas. We would like you to consider being part of this programme which will provide an opportunity to meet our future academic and business leaders.

Provide a work placement
It’s more important than ever that our students obtain good quality work experience during their studies. By providing a work placement in your company or organisation, you can help to shape the next generation of the graduate workforce.
The University of Glasgow Careers Service’s Club 21 Business Partnership is our flagship work placement programme. Club 21 offers a range of paid and voluntary placement opportunities through over 180 business partners, including large multinationals, SMEs, new businesses and charities.
Each placement is carefully tailored to provide our students with the essential business skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the global economy. But just as importantly, Club 21 interns make real contributions to their host organisations, bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm and insights to real business problems and projects.
Club 21 is free to join and businesses are fully supported by our staff to ensure effective advertising, recruitment and supervision of their placements. What’s more, members can take advantage of a number of additional benefits including discounted venue hire, exclusive networking events and a range of opportunities to heighten their campus profile.
