2013 Human Rights and Domestic Legal Traditions

As part of the School of Law's tercentenary celebration of 300 years of the Chair of Law at Glasgow, Lord Reed, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, will deliver a lecture entitled “Human Rights and Domestic Legal Traditions” at 5.30pm on Friday 7 June in the Alexander Stone Lecture Theatre, 16 University Gardens. The lecture will be followed by a wine reception.

About the Speaker

Robert Reed was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2012 following a distinguished career as a practising advocate and as a senior judge in the High Court and Court of Session. He is an ad hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights and a visiting professor at the University of Glasgow. Together with Jim Murdoch of the Glasgow Law School, he is co-author of the leading text A Guide to Human Rights in Scotland.

About the Lecture

The lecture, supported by the Clark Foundation for Legal Education, forms part of a series of events being held by the University of Glasgow to mark the Tercentenary of the Regius Chair of Law, which was founded in 1713.
