Regional Access Initiative

In academic year 2003-04, SHEFC allocated additional funded places to help tackle geographic concentrations of low levels of participation in higher education in Scotland. Objectives for these SHEFC nominated postcodes will enable Faculties to:

• Raise aspirations and increase applications
  
• Increase the conversion rate of offers to acceptances
  
• Promote retention and successful completion of the programme of study

Each Faculty has identified a Faculty Widening Participation Officer (FWPO) who plays an integral role in developing WP Faculty initiatives.
