Student Network
The Student Network is a University of Glasgow service that puts prospective, new and current students in touch with more experienced students, who have completed their first year of study and can:
- Answer any general queries you may have about studying at Glasgow
- Give you an insight into what to expect from your first year of study
- Offer guidance and support throughout your first year of study
For more information on how it works please see About the Student Network.
Applicants who have signed up to Student Network will be emailed by current undergraduates within their subject areas and invited to ask any questions they might have about their forthcoming course. If applicants subsequently enter the University this e-mentoring will continue throughout their first year.
Pre-University Summer School
Why Have a Summer School? The change from school or college to university is a big one. New students can sometimes feel very lost and uncertain. Research findings indicate that those who feel at home in a university environment, both academically and socially, are statistically more likely to graduate. The Summer School is specifically designed to prepare you for university and, if necessary, help you get there. We do this in a number of ways:
- By teaching you how to take good lecture notes
- By introducing you to a university library system
- By explaining to you how a university works
- By giving you experience of first-year university work
- By helping you if you change your mind about the course of study that you want to follow
- By offering you a second chance of entry if you fail to meet the requirements of your conditional offer
For more information and details of how to apply contact the Care Leaver Support Coordinator.

Higher Education Conventions and Progression Fairs
Your school or college is likely to organise at least one Higher Education Fair every year when representatives from the different Universities are on hand in the school or college to provide information and answer any of your questions. Make sure you come along and visit the University of Glasgow stall and ask any questions you might have and pick up a prospectus.
