Advisers of Studies
Advisers of Studies play an important role in helping you with academic matters and, where necessary, can help you with any social or personal issues.
In Colleges where you have a wide range of subjects to choose from (Arts, Sciences and Law, Business & Social Sciences) your Adviser will usually meet with you before registration to help you finalise your choices of study for the New Year. You will then normally meet again later in the year to discuss your progress, but you can arrange to see your Adviser at other times as required. In other Colleges, where there is little or no subject choice, you will be allocated an Adviser with whom you can discuss any academic and personal problems.
Student Learning Service
The Student Learning Service (SLS) is part of the Academic Development Unit of the Learning and Teaching Centre and offers advice and guidance on academic skills to all matriculated undergraduate and taught postgraduate students. The SLS aims to enhance students' learning experience by encouraging them to reflect upon and develop their own study strategies to help them in attaining their full academic potential.
Student Network
The Student Network is a University of Glasgow service that puts prospective, new and current students in touch with more experienced students, who have completed their first year of study and can:
- Answer any general queries you may have about studying at Glasgow
- Give you an insight into what to expect from your first year of study
- Offer guidance and support throughout your first year of study
For more information on how it works please see About the Student Network.
If you sign up to the Student Network you will be emailed by current undergraduates within your chosen subject areas. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have of students who are actually studying the course you are applying to. If you end up coming to the University these same students will stay in contact throughout their first year.
