Care Leavers

The University of Glasgow encourages applications from all qualified students and is extremely keen to hear from young people who have been looked after by their Local Authority in foster or residential care. If you are leaving care or have previously spent time in care and are thinking of applying to the University, there is a range of services and provision that Glasgow can offer you. For example, we may be able to provide 365-day a year accommodation, financial support, and advice and guidance from our Care Leaver Support Coordinator.
If you are currently studying at college and are thinking about the next step, you may find our College to University webpages useful.
Going to university should give you the opportunity to study a subject that you enjoy, to learn about living independently and to have fun! The University of Glasgow is committed to increasing the numbers of care leavers going to university. If you think that Glasgow may be right for you, then we hope that these pages will give you the information that you need to apply to us.
Remember, if you are applying to the University through UCAS, make sure you tick the box which asks if you have been in care. This will enable us to contact you at the application stage and give you more information about the kind of support we can offer. It will also put you in touch with our Care Leaver Support Coordinator.
