Credibility in action

Across the world, people look to us for leadership in learning and research. Our credibility is built on innovation and academic rigour, and we constantly build on our reputation by investing in people with outstanding research capability and potential.

Our Kelvin Smith Fellowships & Scholarships, for example, help us to support researchers in the early stages of their careers who have the potential to become leaders in their chosen fields.

The University has invested around £650,000 in a range of three-year Fellowships covering a diverse and innovative array of interdisciplinary projects including:

  • technical art history
  • translational cardiovascular research; and
  • the social history of human rights in Western societies.

Following the success of the Fellowships, we’ve adopted a similar scheme for Scholars. Since 2007, we’ve recruited 28 Scholars from the UK and overseas, representing an investment of around £2 million.
