If you're looking to kick-start a career in science communication, then the annual competition from Chemistry World for new science communicators might be just the thing for you!

The competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over, from anywhere in the world, and you can be a student, teacher, technician, PhD student, or researcher, as long as you are a new science communicator without any professional (paid) experience.

In order to enter you must provide two pieces of work by March 31st 2017, with the live final taking place in London on Tuesday June 27th. The two submissions you must make are as follows:

  • A written essay that would be suitable for publication in Chemistry World of no more than 800 words excluding headline and references

  • A video of no more than two minutes, showing us how well you can present your chosen topic. It’s not about Hollywood production values, so webcam or mobile videos are fine

This year the theme of the competition is the role of chemistry in your local urban environment, and you are asked to demonstrate how chemistry can make your neighbourhood better.

All of the details of the competition can be found here - best of luck!
