U21 Staff opportunities
Universitas 21 offers a number of opportunities for staff at Glasgow:
- U21 Early Career Workshops
- Opportunities for staff places to attend core student international events and develop partner links
- Applications for funding from U21
- Participation in U21 groups.
Glasgow's membership of U21 offers our staff an opportunity to reach new contacts at member institutions (and for U21 members to contact us) thus building links between universities to facilitate greater international collaboration between members, such as the sharing of resources and learning materials.
NB WE WILL BE HOLDING A SERIES OF U21 COLLEGE WORKSHOPS IN OCTOBER 2013:
- College of Arts: Monday 14 October 11am
- College of Social Science: Tuesday 14 October 11am
- College of Science & Engineering: Monday 21 October 12 midday
- College of MVLS: Tuesday 22 October 12 midday
All workshops will take place in Alwyn Williams building, Level 5

Early Career Researcher Workshops
Supporting and nurturing the career of early career researchers is an important new part of U21 work and one that Glasgow fully supports. Each year U21 hosts an ECR workshop is hosted by a member of U21 network. Glasgow offers a minimum of 3 funded places to attend, inlcuding workshop costs, accommodation and travel expenses.
Early Career Workshop 2013: Innovative Technologies: From Research to Impact on Society
Tecnologico de Monterrey, 2-3 December 2013
This workshop will bring together Early Career Researchers from across the U21 network within the first eight years of their post-doctoral career. The broad discipline of 'Technology' will provide the opportunity to share knowledge and current projects which are at the cutting edge of research around the world in fields such as Information Technologies, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Biotechnology, Energy, amongst others. Social Science and Business specialists are also welcoem to create a multidisciplinary environment.
All costs (travel, accommodation, workshop fees) are covered for the 3 successful candidates.

Previous ECR workshops
2012 ECR Workshop took place at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in December 2012. Three ECRs from Glasgow were successful in securing places to attend: Dr. Tim Barker (School of Culture and Creative Arts), Dr. Yupin Chung (History of Art) and Dr. Hong Liu (Adam Smith Business School).
2011 U21 Early Career Workshop took place at the University of New South Wales. Glasgow sent two researchers to this event. Four early career researchers from Glasgow also took part in the U21 Workshop on Healthy Living at the University of Birmingham in December 2011.
