Our world faces new and re-emerging security challenges, ranging from war to terrorism, cyber warfare, disease, migration and climate change. At the same time, “frozen” or “forgotten” conflicts, often linked to failed-states and issues of identity and nationalism, have continued to shape the lives of millions of people around the world. All of these issues have resulted in a demand for greater attention and coordinated responses from the international community. Global Security examines threats, strategic actions and policy developments. The MSc in Global Security took in its first students in September 2011.
One of the most exciting innovations will be practitioner master classes. The master classes will bring distinguished and high-ranking representatives of government, NGOs and private industry to Glasgow.

The Business School
Business related subjects have been taught at the University of Glasgow since 1925, when the Johnstone Smith Chair of Accountancy was established. Law Tercentenary Scholarships
The Tercentenary Scholarships Fund has been established to mark the 300 year anniversary of the foundation of the Regius Chair of Civil Law at Glasgow. The Chair was granted by Queen Anne in 1713 and marked the beginning of the modern tradition of law teaching in the university.

Your donation to the Law Tercentenary Scholarships Fund will help in providing these opportunities.
150 people giving £10 per month for 3 years amounts to £54,000 - a full scholarship that will enable a bright student to pursue a PhD, a qualification that is essential nowadays for someone seeking employment in a University. Many overseas governments provide funding for doctoral scholarships but funding in the UK is exceptionally difficult meaning that our students find it extremely challenging to obtain support. These scholarships are essential to renew the younger generation of scholars who will continue the tradition of excellent teaching and researching law at Glasgow.

We are home to the Solway Centre for Environment & Culture which explores the relationship between landscape, place and memory, and sustainable rural tourism and landscape management. We place a strong emphasis on the importance of tackling environmental issues in a cultural context, identifying important themes in the local region, which also resonate with other rural regions, worldwide.
Our research work also focuses on health and wellbeing, in particular ageing, palliative and end of life care.
