Support Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences

The College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences brings together internationally-renowned experts in order to advance research in medical, veterinary and life sciences.

Our collaborative, interdisciplinary approach means we can study processes at every level from genes, to cells, organs, individuals, populations, and ecosystems.

As a strategically important centre for cancer research and a major centre for research into a range of diseases and conditions from heart disease and arthritis to malaria and rabies, our high quality research is used across the UK and internationally to improve human and animal health and quality of life.

You can support our work with a gift to the Medical Fund, the Vet Fund or to one of our projects. You can also help us attract and develop the best doctors, vets and scientists with a gift to scholarships.

The Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre

Make a DonationThanks to the generosity of our supporters, the University of Glasgow' s world-class leukaemia researchers are now based in a purpose-built laboratory, the Paul O'Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre, at Gartnavel hospital.

This cutting edge facility will support their research into the causes and evolution of a number of different leukaemias.

The major focus of the Centre is the haemopoietic stem cell which is weakened to cause many different forms of leukaemia. Our aim is to perform basic research to identify novel therapeutic targets for leukaemia and translate our laboratory findings into new effective medicines for patients.

The David Livingstone Fund in Global Health and Biodiversity

Global increases in the prevalence and spread of infectious disease have demonstrated the role of the environment in driving epidemics in human and animal populations.

Make a Donation

In the developing world infectious diseases are still the leading cause of mortality, affecting the most impoverished and neglected communities where the burden of infectious diseases is often severely underestimated.

Impoverished tropical areas, in particular, continue to suffer substantial human and animal losses from infectious diseases such as malaria, rabies, sleeping sickness and other parasitic and viral infections, including many that have long been eradicated from developed countries.

Further to this, the emergence of new diseases and an increasing incidence of drug resistance in pathogens and vectors mean that tackling the symptoms of infectious diseases can be hampered.
