How to Support the Scholarships Fund
Anyone wishing to provide financial assistance to the students of today and tomorrow can make a donation either by regular or single gift.
You can also support scholarships by means of a bequest. Some donors now giving on an annual basis have indicated to the University that they have arranged for this annual gift to be turned into an endowed scholarship by means of a bequest.
Donors are encouraged to support the different scholarships in a variety of ways.
Named Endowed Scholarships
These can be created by the donation of larger gifts to name individual scholarships tailored with regard to the donor’s wishes for particular departments or disciplines or to fund students from particular geographical areas. All these gifts can be used to support the Glasgow Talent Scholarships, Glasgow Excellence Awards and Mobility Scholarships.
For example, to create a Postgraduate Research Scholarship which would bear your name in perpetuity, you would need to provide a capital sum of at least £300,000 for endowment, sufficient to generate a monthly income of at least £1,100 in today’s terms.
Named Annual Scholarships
To fund a Glasgow Excellence (postgraduate) three year scholarship or a Glasgow Talent (undergraduate) scholarship on an annual basis requires a regular gift which can be made monthly or annually by the donor. For the amounts required to fund these scholarships, please see the Scholarships Gifted Scheme below.
Travel Scholarships
There are also opportunities to fund Travel scholarships. These can typically vary from £500 – £2,000 per year, depending on their duration and geographical location – please contact us for further details.
Gifted Scheme
A regular monthly gift could be directed towards the Scholarships Fund as shown in the Gifted Scheme table. Gifts over £250 will be recognised with a naming opportunity.
