By giving to the Sports Bursary Fund at the University of Glasgow you will help some of Glasgow’s most talented athletes achieve their potential
The Sports Bursary Fund provides scholarships to talented athletes enrolled at the University to help purchase equipment, fund trips to competitions and attend training sessions to bring out the very best of their abilities. The Fund also ensures the University can provide world-class training by attracting the best coaches for a range of priority sports.
The Sport Bursary Fund relies on philanthropic support from our alumni and friends. By giving to the Fund you will help us to encourage, support and promote sporting performance amongst our students.
Gifts of £250 and over - or £5 per month by direct debit - are recognised with a naming opportunity through our Gifted Scheme.
Why support the Sports Bursary Fund?
With the Commonwealth Games being held in the city of Glasgow in 2014, the Sports Bursary Fund will build on Glasgow's reputation as a hub for sporting talent.
We support students in achieving their athletic as well as academic potential whilst at University. With top-class facilities, coaching, mentoring and support services, we help up-and-coming athletes and those already competing at the pinnacle of international competition, to achieve their best.
With former students such as four time Olympian rower Katherine Grainger (pictured right), Scotland rugby internationalist Euan Murray (50+ caps), swimmer Rebecca Cooke (3x Commonwealth gold medallist) and London 2012 hockey Olympian Emily Maguire, Glasgow attracts some of the best and most dedicated students from around the world.
The University has established eight Sports Development Clubs to support our priority areas. Your donation could contribute to one or all of these:
- Boat (Rowing)
- Men’s Basketball
- Women’s Basketball
- Men’s Football
- Men’s Hockey
- Women’s Hockey
- Men’s Rugby
- Swimming & Waterpolo
Your donation will directly contribute to the sporting achievements of our elite University of Glasgow athletes.
