A monthly gift to support research into heart disease

Why give this gift to Glasgow?

Heart disease and stroke are the biggest killers in the UK.  Glasgow is a strategically important centre for research into the causes of heart disease and stroke and the development of new approaches and treatments.  Donations go towards vital equipment and supporting the very best clinicians and researchers in this field.

What difference would my gift make?

A monthly gift of £20.83 per month for four years would provide a total gift of £1000 or £1250 including Gift Aid. You can name your gift on the Online Donor Wall.

For example, the Heart Disease Fund recently supported a research project looking at the effect of exercise-training on the function of cardiac muscles in people who have blockages of the coronary artery.  A donor to the Medical Fund helps support new and pioneering research like this into the diseases that affect many of us and our loved ones.

More than 180 donors have given to the Heart Disease Fund since it was launched in 2006.  We have over 500 donors who regularly give to the Medical Fund themes supporting Glasgow’s medical breakthroughs.

A gift to support Medical Education

Why give this gift to Glasgow?

Medicine at Glasgow has an illustrious history stretching back to the 17th century.  Glasgow doctors have made a significant impact on the world during that time which continues through our alumni body and the more than 200 doctors we train each year.

What difference would my gift make?

With this gift we can buy equipment for the Wolfson Medical School Building which enhances the learning experience.  Over the past few years we have bought prosthetics for students' self study and mobile clinical lighting to enhance the teaching and assessment capability in the Clinical Skills Suite.  This equipment helps our students train in more realistic surroundings and become confident in their ability before seeing real patients

Many of our supporters find giving a regular gift an affordable and convenient way to make a difference. For example a gift of £10.42 per month for four years results in a donation of £500.  The Medical Fund gives all donors who give £250 or above the opportunity to see their dedication on our Online Benefactor Wall and in our publications.

Who supports Medical Education at Glasgow?

The Medical Education Fund is particularly popular with medical alumni and with medical reunion groups who use a group gift as a way of saying thank you for the education they received.  It is also popular with non-medics who wish to help our doctors of tomorrow receive the best training with the most up-to-date equipment.
